What to expect at your first visit
Your first visit to our office will be for an initial examination. At the initial exam appointment, we will take digital photos of you and your teeth and, in most cases, a digital panoramic x-ray.
Next, the doctor will inquire about your main orthodontic concerns and take a detailed look at your teeth, then review your photos and radiograph with you. The doctor will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.
- Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
- Is treatment needed now, or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Will any permanent teeth need to be removed to correct the problem?
- Approximately how long will treatment take?
The doctor will then address any additional questions you may have regarding orthodontic treatment.
Following your meeting with the doctor, one of our front office/treatment coordinators will discuss treatment costs and review all of our financing options as well as and explain any insurance benefit you may have.
Your next step
If the doctor feels that you are ready to begin orthodontic treatment, the next step is completing the diagnostic orthodontic records by taking an additional x-ray and impressions for models of your teeth.
The doctor will carefully review the diagnostic records to develop a customized treatment plan for you, addressing all of your initial concerns.
We encourage you to ask questions. We understand that in many cases, orthodontic treatment is a choice. We are honored to have the opportunity to get to know you and provide your orthodontic care. We look forward to working with you to create your ideal smile.
