About the Doctors
Dr. Jack Hou
From an early age, Dr. Jack Hou realized the importance of hard work. Born in Staten Island, New York in 1977, Dr. Hou and his family moved to Tennessee in 1985 to open a restaurant. As a child, Dr. Hou worked alongside his family in the restaurant, mopping floors and washing dishes. It was here that he learned that discipline and hard work are the foundation for any successful endeavor, a principle he has carried over into his own practice. In 1999, Dr. Hou earned a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee and went on to complete his DDS from the University of Michigan in 2003. Dr. Hou returned to the University of Tennessee for his residency, participating in a three-year program in the specialty of Orthodontics and graduating in 2006. Dr. Hou is involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Seattle-King County Dental Society and the Tweed Foundation. Dr. Hou is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an achievement that was earned by a successful completion of the written, oral and clinical phases of the American Board examination. In his spare time, Dr. Hou enjoys snowboarding, golf and running. Dr. Hou’s experience and expertise have shown him to be a proven young leader in his field. His generosity of spirit and his progressive, yet traditional, approach toward treatment and patient care has made Dr. Hou a favorite among his many patients. |

Dr. Kortne Frederick

Dr. Kortne Frederick was born and raised in Michigan. At a young age, she told family and friends that she was going to be a dentist when she grew up. A high school career research project on Dentistry led her to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she worked as a barista and skied for the University, while earning a B.S. in General Biology in 2001. Dr. Frederick stayed in Ann Arbor for Dental School, and worked part-time as an orthodontic assistant. Following dental school graduation in 2005, Dr. Frederick moved to Tennessee for a 3-year residency, earning a M.D.S. in the specialty of Orthodontics in May 2008. Dr. Frederick is involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Seattle-King County Dental Society and the International Tweed Foundation, where she was recently an instructor, teaching orthodontists and orthodontic residents from all over the world. Dr. Frederick is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an achievement that was earned by a successful completion of the written, oral and clinical phases of the American Board examination. In her free time, Dr. Frederick still loves to ski as well as snowboard and run. Dr. Frederick’s experience and expertise have shown her to be a proven young leader in her field. Her enthusiasm for what she does is contagious, Dr. Frederick enjoys working with her patients to create a more confident, healthy and functional smile. Dr. Frederick is very detailed and precise in her work, yet very open and approachable, making her a favorite among her many patients. |
